In Studio Training
This is a four day, in person master class in traditional wig making.
The focus is the construction of a full lace foundation from scratch, with emphasis on precision whipping and knotting. Instruction is grounded in film and television methodology and adapted for contemporary, real-world wear.
All students begin from the same place.
After unboxing the workshop kit, work begins.
Days One & Two
Foundation Preparation and Construction
The class opens with the creation of a full head mold. The mold functions as a physical stand in for the client, allowing the foundation to be built with accuracy throughout the process. It is blocked and padded onto a corresponding cork canvas wig block.
Plotting follows. Lines are drawn directly onto the mold to determine panel placement, darting, and seam structure. A universal plotting system is introduced, allowing foundations to be duplicated, resized, and adapted across applications.
Professional wig wrapping is covered prior to construction. The method taught is standard in film and television and is designed to create a clean, stable base efficiently. Hair is prepared as it will be worn under the finished piece.
Work then moves to a practice head.
Whipping instruction begins with the pull stitch, single stitch, and double stitch. Emphasis is placed on control, stitch direction, and consistency. Students work through darts and tucked hemlines while sewing through multiple layers of lace.
Lace bar structure and needle angle are examined closely, with attention to stitch entry, exit, and foundation longevity.
By the end of the second day, construction of the foundation is underway.

Day Three
Completion and Transition
Foundation work continues.
Most students complete the foundation in studio. If a small section remains, a supervised virtual session is provided to complete the work.
Once construction is complete, resizing principles are introduced, including adaptations for everyday wear, film, medical wigs, and toppers.
Knotting instruction begins in the second half of the day.
Day Four
Knotting
The final day is dedicated to knotting.
Instruction focuses on clean tight knots, strand control, understanding grids/ reading lace, control, and consistency… Note* it’s never about speed it’s about doing it correctly… speed comes with consistency of proper technique. Techniques are applied on a mock foundation to preserve you in studio film lace front build for home knotting. We focus on reinforcing repeatable systems rather than isolated results.
Work concludes with a framework for continued independent building.
